A Measure of Days is an evolving artwork I started on 18 February 2024. It brings together a daily rhythm of making with paintings I work on over longer periods.

Each day I make one small work, called a Day. Each Day consists of fragments of paper I painted earlier, mounted on a wood panel measuring 10 × 15 cm. Each stands on its own. Together, the accumulating Days form the Field.

My paintings belong to the same artwork but operate at another scale and duration. I may work on a painting over days, weeks or months, allowing fragments and spatial relationships to shift, disappear and return.

The Field changes with each new Day and with each exhibition. It responds to the space in which it appears, so no presentation is definitive. As individual Days and paintings enter collections, their dispersal forms the Dispersed Field, extending the work beyond any single location.
